When considering sources for academic assignments, books, newspapers, and journal articles are often the first and only things that come to mind. However, in the digital age, obtaining information through traditional means is no longer the only option. YouTube, in particular, has a large number of accessible of resource content, ranging from short educational videos to feature-length documentaries covering a wide range of topics.

APA format
By last name, first name Write the creator's real name in initials format. If the name does not exist, use the creator's username instead. If both the real name and username are known, write them out, keeping the name in the same initials format, and Put the username in brackets.

MLA 8 Format
Write the real name of the creator or author in the last name, first name format and end with Period ends.
Indicates the name of the video, put the title in quotes and follow it with a period. Capitalize the first letter of all main words.
Specify the title of the website (YouTube), italicize, followed by a comma. Add the publisher name (YouTube channel name), followed by a comma. Only perform this step if the publisher and author names are different.
List publication dates in day-month-year format, followed by a comma. End by inserting the video URL, then adding a period.

Nolan, Markham. “How to Separate Fact from Fiction Online.” YouTube, uploaded by TED, December 2012 11th, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v sNV4yIyXXX0.
Chicago Style
Name the individual who posted the video in last name, first name format or company.
Add a video title, enclose it in quotes, and follow it with a comma.
Indicate the source as a YouTube video and add a comma.
Specify the length of the video, separating minutes and seconds with a colon . followed by a comma.
Lists release dates in month, day, year format, ending with a period.
Insert the URL at the end, and then add a period.
Example:
