The long-awaited release of the first 4K video downloader beta brings a major update to the application UI and several new features. Updated smart mode, built-in browser, folders, filters - the list is not exhaustive. In this post, we'll introduce these features and new design concepts to ensure your experience is smoother than ever.
Why We Redesigned the UI of 4K Video Downloader
If you Wondering why we redesigned the UI of 4K Video Downloader, don’t skip this part We decided to completely reimagine the UI of our flagship app.
Since 2013, we have been building, releasing and Update 4K Video Downloader. At the time, the technology stack we chose to make this app was exemplary. For some solutions, it still is. Even so, we are developing new features, interfaces, and integrating old features with that stack Maintenance was already starting to hit a rough patch at a decent level.
As a result, we couldn't fix and update the app quickly enough, and the interface design process was complicated due to the technology we used to build the software in the first place.
Our newer applications, such as 4K Stogram, are built using other technologies that are more convenient for the development and refactoring process. This new solution we currently leverage simplifies the rollout of necessary UI changes , and allows us to update apps faster and more efficiently.
Another reason for the new UI design is that we want all 4K download apps to look consistent. Previously, we combined 4K Stogram and 4K YouTube The UI has been updated to MP3, and 4K Tokkit has been released, and the appearance has been completely new.
Simply put, the new UI is how we can effectively implement new features, develop old features, and solve a large number of problems you have encountered before. A must for user experience issues.
4K Video Downloader 5.0 Beta: New Features
Now let's delve deeper to understand the features we've implemented. There's a lot.
Overall New Appearance
This is what you see when you launch the app: a new design and clean interface without anything extra.
Click on the login icon (top right corner) You can log into YouTube, check for important updates and notifications, or access settings with one click.
Another feature made entirely possible thanks to the new look. Once you launch the new 4K Video Downloader, you will Intuitive and short GIFs guide you through the main features.
However, the new design is not just how the 4K Video Downloader feels, but how it works. So let’s take a closer look at what’s in store for you in this release New Features Offered.
Built-in Browser
No need for endless browser tabs for longer! Now you can search for content directly in the app. This feature is also possible thanks to the new UI .
To make it work, click on a supported site, enter your search query, find what you need, and press the download button.
The built-in browser allows you to download content that was previously impossible to save without logging in. For example, to download YouTube videos directly within the app, log into YouTube in 4K Video Downloader and save whatever you want .
Updated Manual Download Window
Yes, this one has a new look now too! The manual download window is structurally unchanged but looks different when you download a channel, playlist or playlist subscription Different.
Here are the new features:
Now you don't have to wait for the entire channel or playlist to be parsed: 4K Video Downloader allows you to save while parsing the channel Single video, no need to wait until parsing is complete.
You can now pause the parsing process by clicking the upper right button.
Settings also have a new look. Just like in smart mode, you can Select the settings yourself when downloading a channel or playlist and the app will select videos that match your criteria.
The channel subscription window has also changed: it now has the same flow as the playlist download window:
Folders
This is one of the most complex windows An important update in the new user interface. Now you can group all newly downloaded channels, playlists and subscriptions into folders. Additionally, you can now find your subscriptions along with all other downloads in the same row.
Please note that if you migrate from an older software version, all downloaded channels and playlists will appear as individual videos .Only subscribed videos will be grouped into folders.
Smart mode is even smarter
Smart mode is not a new concept, but in the current version, it has an updated look. You can now view it in the main window Smart Mode is found at the top as a header menu, the mode can be turned on and off with a single switch. There is no separate switch for the tab or window for smart settings right away.
Set your preferences before the download starts: just select from the list Select your desired media type, quality, system and output folder for a seamless experience.
If you don’t know which media formats your operating system can play, you will find this novel feature useful Useful: now smart mode will choose the file format according to the operating system and ensure that the file can be played properly.
Filters and sorting The new design allows us to implement various filters and sorting. The main window now has By type Tabs to filter content - Videos, Audio, Playlists, Channels, Subscriptions and All.
It also has name filters and name and date sorting, allowing you to display content based on when it was added. In playlists, channels and subscription folders can also be filtered and sorted by name. We will do this in an upcoming release.
New download progress
Since we now have folders, the download progress Also modified. Each folder counts the complete download progress of all elements within that folder. What's more, download progress and conversion are now two different things, since there's no way to tell whether conversion is required in each case.
This means now you will see the download progress first and then the conversion so it will reach 100% complete twice.
New export/import format
Old 4K video download The browser version allows you to export downloads and subscriptions as two separate CSV files. The new version exports them as a single JSON file.
Please note that your old CSV exports can still be imported, but they cannot Grouped into folders (see how the feature works above).
You might be wondering why we changed this too. Here's our rationale: when we need to change something, we do it in the CSV format Some difficulties were encountered. The implementation of JSON allows us to act more flexibly and further develop the export/import functionality.
Consistency between your favorite 4K download apps
4K Video Download Downloader now has a similar interface and all the standard elements included in other 4K download apps, namely notifications and updates panel, proxy settings, settings, the ability to manage licenses in the app, and much more.
Further Development
The new 4K video downloader is still in Beta stage. If you want to test it, you can install it from here for Windows x64, Windows x32, macOS and Linux.
In the meantime, if we find any bugs , we will fix it with your assistance, release an updated Beta version, and complete the task of the official version.
We plan to make an official 4K Video Downloader 5.0 to be released soon, so be sure to follow our updates. In addition, We are planning to add some 4K Video Downloader features to our audio downloader 4K YouTube to MP3.
